Red oak bark mulch keeps a uniform color through proper aging.
Red oak bark mulch begins as logs that are sent to lumber mills to become furniture or high end cabinetry. The red oak logs are run through a machine called a debarker. The debarker strips all the bark off the wood so that the logs can then be processed. That bark is stockpiled and aged to help it achieve a uniform color. After proper aging, the bark is run through a tub grinder which turns it into desirable sized pieces.
One of the area’s select locations for red oak bark mulch.
Red oak bark mulch has a completely natural and beautiful red color to it as the name implies. No chemicals or colorants are added. Red oak bark mulch offers the same advantages as dark bark mulch, which include a stringier consistency than traditional hardwood mulch which is more resistant to decomposition. In addition, red oak bark mulch is lighter in weight which makes spreading it easier. Mission Mulch is one of the only stores in the Harrisonburg area to carry red oak bark mulch.
