We’re one of the only locations in the Shenandoah Valley To Carry Certified Playground Mulch
When it comes to a child’s safety on a playground, it is imperative that you use only the best quality and safest mulch as a base. Playground certified mulch begins as virgin oak wood that is chipped to engineered specifications to meet IPEMA (International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association) requirements. The Playground Certified wood fiber must pass a ¾” sieve test which ensures very precise particle sizing, it has to pass a stringent tramp metal test to be certain no metal accidently ends up in the material and finally, it must pass an impact attenuation test in case a child was to fall from the playground equipment. When it comes to your child’s safety, only the best will do. The playground certified mulch we carry also was certified ASTM F1951-14 for Wheel Chair Accessibility ensuring all children can access the playground.
How To Properly Install Playground Certified Mulch
Using our playground certified mulch is an important step to improving your child’s safety on playgrounds but it is imperative to install the playground certified mulch correctly to ensure it works as effectively as possible. It is recommended that you cover the play area a minimum of 12” compacted depth throughout the playground. This will provide impact protection up to 12 feet. The material acts as a cushion to reduce the harmful effects of a fall off playground equipment. The deeper the playground certified mulch is installed, the better it can cushion an accident. Regular maintenance of the surface is recommended. High Traffic areas, such as slide exits, underside of swing bays / overhead climbers, etc. must be back filled and leveled regularly. We also recommend if you have the playground certified mulch delivered that you have it placed on a solid surface free of rocks or debris to ensure nothing accidently gets mixed in on site.
How Much Do You Need
In order to estimate how many yards you need, every 100 sq. feet (10×10) at 12” deep requires at least 3.7 cubic yards.
We’d be happy to supply IPEMA and Wheel Chair Accessibility certificates upon request
