We Are Harrisonburg’s Supplier Of Bark Mulch.
Bark mulch is a very specialized type of mulch. Unlike every other type of mulch, bark mulch is made exclusively from the bark, or skin, of the tree. Bark mulch is only obtained via sawmills that run high value logs through a machine referred to as a debarker. The debarker acts as an oversized sander which strips the bark clean off the logs which ultimately will be sawed into lumber. That bark is then collected, stockpiled and reground into bark mulch. Bark mulch is renowned for being lighter, spongier and stringier than traditional hardwood mulches. The stringier consistency is due to the fact that Bark Mulch is originally scraped off instead of splintered and tends to tear rather than shatter when impacted with hammers. The stringy consistency makes it harder for insects to digest and therefor makes the mulch last longer than other types of mulch.
